WIND
The first cool breeze of Autumn blew thru me today
That old friend felt different this time for reasons I can’t explain
I was the same but the cool breeze had changed
The last rays of summer sun are fading fast
Like broken glass they shatter across the sky
Hiding til the day they slice a careless toe
Drawing blood that cannot help from running cold
Frozen wind sits thick in the sky, never to drop and never to fly
To sit cold and tired, with no relief until the day
the frozen wind becomes so heavy that the sky falls down
Tired friend, where have you been?
Your face is longer, and you’ve long since forgotten
how it felt that first time
When you blew right thru me
